The National Testing Agency (NTA) has implemented a strict dress code for NEET UG 2026 to ensure a fair and secure examination process on May 3, 2026.
Candidates must adhere to new guidelines that promote uniformity and facilitate security checks. The NTA advisory encourages candidates to wear light clothing. “Candidates are encouraged to wear light clothing to facilitate proper frisking,” an official noted. Full sleeves and woollen garments are allowed if necessary, but candidates must arrive early for security checks.
Footwear also comes with specific instructions; slippers and low-heeled sandals are preferred. Heavy, layered, or thick fabric clothing is prohibited. Metal items like buttons, zips, chains, or accessories cannot be brought into the examination hall.
Additionally, candidates can carry transparent water bottles inside the venue. Articles or objects of faith are permitted but require mandatory reporting and inspection. The NTA has urged all candidates to adhere to these instructions and cooperate with the examination staff to ensure a hassle-free examination process.
“The key rule is to keep clothing light, simple, and non-restrictive to ensure smooth security checks at the exam centre,” another representative explained. Compliance with these guidelines is crucial for maintaining order during the exam.
