TVS Motor Company Launches the Orbiter V1 Electric Scooter

On March 12, 2026, TVS Motor Company unveiled the Orbiter V1 electric scooter in Lucknow, India, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to enhance electric mobility accessibility.

Priced at ₹49,999 under the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, the Orbiter V1 aims to attract a broader customer base. Without the BaaS option, the scooter’s price stands at ₹84,500.

The Orbiter V1 is equipped with a 1.8 kWh battery, offering a certified IDC range of 86 km per charge. This range is designed to meet the daily commuting needs of urban riders.

Charging the scooter from 0 to 80% takes approximately two hours and 20 minutes, making it convenient for users who require quick turnaround times.

In addition to its performance specifications, the Orbiter V1 features a 34-litre under-seat storage capacity, providing ample space for personal belongings. The scooter also includes a coloured LCD instrument cluster and a companion mobile app for enhanced connectivity.

Safety is a priority for the Orbiter V1, which comes equipped with alerts for crashes, falls, theft, geo-fencing, and time-fencing, ensuring that riders feel secure while using the vehicle.

The BaaS model allows customers to subscribe to battery usage instead of making an upfront payment, with monthly plans starting at ₹862. This approach is expected to lower the barrier to entry for new electric vehicle users.

Gaurav Gupta, President of India 2W Business at TVS Motor Company, described the launch as an important step in making electric mobility more accessible. Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President heading the Commuter and EV Business, noted that customer feedback on the Orbiter V2 directly informed the decision to introduce a more entry-level option.

The launch comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is experiencing rapid growth, with increasing demand for affordable and efficient electric vehicles.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the long-term impact of the Orbiter V1 on the market, but it is anticipated to play a crucial role in shaping the future of electric mobility in India.
