Officials reported that the 13.3-km-long stretch, built at a cost of around Rs 6,700 crore, aims to improve road safety and reduce travel time between Mumbai and Pune. The new route cuts travel time by 25-30 minutes and reduces distance by approximately 6 km.

The project features modern infrastructure elements like tunnels, viaducts, and a stunning 182-metre-high cable-stayed bridge over Tiger Valley—one of the tallest in India. This bridge is designed to withstand wind speeds up to 240 kmph, ensuring safety for travelers.

Key aspects of the Missing Link project:

• The expressway upgrade is expected to generate economic activity worth Rs 70,000 crore.
• Speed limits are set at 100 kmph for cars and 80 kmph for buses.
• Initially, only light motor vehicles and passenger buses can use the route; heavy vehicles are banned until October 31.
