Park Jin-young Announces Resignation

“Park Jin-young will not go through the process of reappointment as an inside director at the general shareholders’ meeting on March 26,” stated JYP Entertainment in a recent announcement. This marks a significant shift for the founder of the company, who has played a pivotal role in shaping the K-pop landscape.

After serving as a registered inside director since 2011, Park Jin-young is stepping down from this position after 15 years. His decision comes as he aims to redirect his focus towards creative activities as an artist, nurturing junior talent, and engaging in external work related to the K-pop industry.

Park Jin-young, who debuted in the music industry in 1994, founded JYP Entertainment in 1997. Under his leadership, the company has grown to become one of the leading entertainment firms in South Korea, known for producing successful acts such as Stray Kids.

In 2025, JYP Entertainment reported record sales, with Stray Kids grossing $76.2 million during their North American tour, attracting an impressive 491,000 audience members. This achievement highlighted the company’s strong position in the competitive K-pop market.

Despite stepping down as an inside director, Park Jin-young will retain his position as Chief Creative Officer (CCO) and continue to influence the industry. “Jinyoung Park will continue his various efforts within the K-pop industry going forward,” JYP Entertainment confirmed.

Additionally, Park Jin-young was recently appointed co-chairman of the Popular Culture Exchange Committee under President Lee Jae-myung, further emphasizing his commitment to the cultural sector.

As he transitions away from his directorial role, Park’s focus on nurturing new talent and creative pursuits may signal a new chapter for both him and JYP Entertainment. His contributions over the years have been instrumental in establishing the company as a powerhouse in the entertainment industry.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any potential successors or changes in the company’s strategic direction following his resignation.
