Baramulla Police Seizes 1.7 Kilograms of Charas in Kunzer

In a recent operation, Baramulla Police recovered approximately 1.7 kilograms of charas in the Chichilora area of Kunzer on March 24, highlighting their ongoing commitment to combat drug-related crimes in Jammu and Kashmir.

The police intercepted a suspicious vehicle with the registration number HR55AD2930, leading to the arrest of the driver, Waheed Sultan, who was found in possession of 27 grams of charas. Meanwhile, another suspect managed to escape, prompting further investigations.

Following the initial seizure, authorities discovered an additional 1.690 kilograms of charas powder at the residence of the absconding suspect, underscoring the scale of the operation. A case has been registered under FIR No.35/2026 at the Police Station Kunzer.

In a separate but related incident, the Jammu and Kashmir Police also disposed of a live artillery shell found in the Kalgai forest area near the Line of Control. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team was deployed to neutralize the threat, ensuring the safety of the surrounding community.

The discovery of the live shell prompted police to secure the area and take precautionary measures, reflecting their vigilance in maintaining public safety.
